The US killing of Osama bin Laden, the leader of the Al-Qaeda terror organization, stunned the world and was hailed by some as a major breakthrough in the decade-long war on terror. But Al-Qaeda has a global network and even US President Obama is stressing that the war on terror is not over. In Afghanistan, meanwhile, the first step toward handing over to the Afghan government by the end of 2014 will be the start of US troop withdrawals in July. What impact might bin Laden's death have on this strategy? What is happening in Afghanistan today and how might the situation change as the international forces pull out?
